Welcome to the University of Prishtina
Our university is relatively young comparing it with the university traditions throughout different countries in the world. On February 15, 2007 we celebrated the 37th anniversary. We recalled its entire time since its foundation until today, our unique practice through which we went through as people and as academics. Since 1991 until after the liberation of the country in June 1999, University worked and operated in the conditions of difficult survival through which went about the entire Kosova. The tempo of life and academic work was carried with great sacrifice, but the cost in quality was paid severely. After the war, much time was needed to move the things from a very low point into which we were hard-pressed by Serbian Milosevic regime. The role and significance of University of Prishtina since its foundation were typical for the roles and significances that universities have played in the western civilized countries, illuminist and liberator from tutelage of the others.
On February 15th we began IT pilot project for our two academic units, one in Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the other in Faculty of Medicine. We called it “e-UP Vision 2010”, which aims to move the University out the old system of life and work, in all of its aspects: academic, administrative and financial.
System of life and work that we inherited belongs to the century that we left behind.
Dedicated for learning and research, according to western values and systems, University of Prishtina is making courageous steps to move towards Bologna Process. In fact, University of Prishtina, considering its difficult past, needs more than Bologna, that what I called “Bologna Plus”, meaning its gradual remodelling according to the system of the most advanced university values of Euro-Atlantic countries. We will achieve this inevitably. On behalf of this common aim, We invite you to be with us, along with our noble efforts and for the good of generations that will come after us.
